Yagna is what I call her is one of my young four-year-old art students who had a passion for art that was beyond her years. I am sharing her art journey here today.
The journey of a young artist can be both exciting and challenging. It often begins with a spark of inspiration or a passion for creating something unique and meaningful. As this young artist begins to develop her skills and refine her craft, she encounters various obstacles and setbacks along the way.
When I think of my art students, one of Picasso’s sayings comes to my mind “When I was the age of these children, I could draw like Raphael. It took me many years to learn how to draw like these children”. She is one of those playful, creative & fearless children when it comes to art.
One fine morning this cute little adorable Yagna came to my art studio with her mom. She was wondering what we do here in this studio. I explained to her how I have been teaching art since 1997 and all we do here is make art and create masterpieces of art. As she walked in, she was in awe of the beautiful paintings she saw on the walls. It seemed like she studied each painting carefully, taking in every detail and expressing her interest in learning from me. I told her to come over on Sunday with a sketching book and oil pastels. She did as she said appearing at my door on Sunday and from that day our journey began.
We started with oil pastels on her sketching book. I choose oil pastels for her as that would be the base to start for beginners but she proved how immaturely I was taking her art skills. I realized that Yagna took her artwork to a new level of depth and complexity. We moved on to canvas and to acrylics in no time.
One of the biggest challenges for young artists is finding their own voice and style. It can be tempting to imitate other artists or follow trends, but true creativity comes from developing a unique perspective and expressing it through one’s own work. This process often involves a great deal of experimentation, exploration, and self-reflection.
Being an artist, I believe that I cannot teach art to anyone. I encourage you to explore different mediums and techniques in becoming a good artist. We here at Creative Art Campus work to bring their individual creativity out.
We believe it’s always easy to make good painters but what’s challenging is to make good artists. We believe in producing artists and not painters.
It’s challenging to find out an original style of art for any artist and I cannot say how desperate I was to see Yagna in the process of finding her style. She experimented with new colors and techniques, and she poured her heart and soul into every piece she created.
Not long before we found out that Yagna is adopting acrylic and she is freely working on a canvas with a knife. I noticed but still could not believe someone this young can find out her style so quickly. I hesitated at first to tell her but when I did speak to her and explained what it meant, I was left amazed to see how her talent continue to grow after she discovered her God-gifted skill, her own “Style” in the art world.
Imagination is one of the most powerful tools for an artist in their arsenal. It is the ability to create, visualize, and bring to life ideas that exist only in the mind’s eye. Yagna continued to create stunning works of art every Sunday, always pushing herself to try new things and explore new ideas but creating with her own Unique Style. We instilled the concept in her to allow her Imagination to see the world in new and different ways, to find inspiration in everyday objects and situations, and turn them into something beautiful and meaningful. To be able to capture the essence of a moment or an emotion and express it through her art in a way that resonates with others.
A few other things we achieved or rather instilled besides Imagination in making a little artist Yagna is,
Playfulness: I was able to make this 4-year-old approach art in a playful way, without worrying about the end result. We developed her interest in the process of creating than in the final product.
Creativity: Made Yagna realize that an artist has a boundless imagination and is not limited by preconceived notions of what art should be. And that she should not be afraid to experiment with different materials, colors, and textures.
Fearlessness: With our step-by-step guiding process made Yagna know that one should not be afraid to take risks in their art. One should not be worried about making mistakes or being judged. We should be simply exploring and having fun.
Fresh perspective: Children often have a fresh perspective on the world around them. They see things in a different way than adults do. We gave her vision of visualizing art around her and applying it to her own art in her own “Style” bringing new life and energy to her work.
As we were heading towards our art journey here comes Queen Elizabeth’s 2 jubilee to be celebrated in London. Yagna to my surprise created the queen’s portrait in her own style. To my astonishment, this portrait came out so beautiful and unique that Queen herself wrote a letter to Yagna praising her art skills. Another remarkable achievement for Yagna on her road to Art.
Another challenge for Yagna is finding opportunities to showcase her work and build a following. This can involve networking, participating in art shows or competitions, and using social media to promote her art.
Yagna once expressed her desire to hold her first solo exhibition at the age of 5. Despite her young age, she was already making a name for herself in the art world as we planned her first exhibition.
Creating art can be a deeply fulfilling and therapeutic experience, and sharing one’s work with others can be incredibly rewarding. Moreover, the ability to evoke emotion, inspire change, and connect with others through art is a powerful and meaningful way to contribute to the world.
And here she is proudly exhibiting her first solo exhibition of 40 paintings from her very first small painting to a huge 3×6 feet canvas at Creative Art Campus a unique art studio and gallery.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the Deputy Mayor of Hounslow City. We had so many guests and visitors to admire and purchase this little artist’s artwork.
Then came a hurdle, an obstacle in our art journey with Yagna. Yagna had to leave the UK with her family for good to Poland due to a family commitment. She moved out of the UK leaving us disappointed thinking that our art journey now come to an end. Where there is a Will there is a Way. She once called me via the Internet to talk to me and it clicked and here, we are back again continuing to guide and move forward with our Art journey via the Internet now, WhatsApp video calls.
She is continuing now her passion spending hours each day creating new masterpieces.
We continued emphasizing to young art students like Yagna the importance of observing the world around them and using their own unique perspectives to create art that is meaningful to them.
Ultimately, the journey of a young artist is one of growth, discovery, and self-expression. It requires patience, perseverance, and a willingness to take risks and learn from mistakes. But for those who are passionate about their art and committed to pursuing their dreams, the rewards can be truly extraordinary.
We the renowned artists at Creative Art Campus aim to foster a love and appreciation for art in the young student and encourage them to continue to pursue their passion for creating.
Yagna is all set now again for the second exhibition of her life in her country in June.
